November, 2020 — Absolute Resource Associates (ARA) of Portsmouth, NH, celebrates 20 years in business this month. The company provides environmental testing and consulting services throughout New England.
Owners Sue & Guy Sylvester purchased a struggling six-person lab in 2000 after working in high level positions within the national
environmental testing industry for 20 years. Their first few years as business owners were met with hurdles, including replacing failing instrumentation and investing $30K from their own savings into a new air conditioning system. However, within ten years they had broadened their offerings and more than doubled in size, and in 2020 their staffing and revenue have quadrupled since those early days.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has certainly impacted business for ARA, as an essential business they have remained operational throughout 2020 and are thankful that they have not had to lay off any of their staff. “Clean water and clean air are essential,” says ARA President Sue Sylvester. “Whether it’s driven by environmental regulation, the “green” business climate, or public awareness, when folks want to, or need to, test for environmental contaminants, they turn to ARA. Since day one, our staff has gone above and beyond for our customers, and I think that has been the real key to our success.”
ARA provides a broad range of environmental services, including Environmental Laboratory Testing, Indoor Air Quality Services and Environmental Project Management for Federal, Industrial, Municipal and Residential clients throughout New England.
