ARA Lab Director Aaron DeWeesAaron DeWees

Aaron has been with Absolute Resource Associates since 1999, and has directly contributed to the success of the business on many levels. Starting as an intern in the extractions department during his college days at the University of New Hampshire, and filling almost every role here at one point or another, Aaron's hard work, dedication and vast understanding of day-to-day operations have led him to his current position as Chief Operating Officer Along with his responsibilities of overseeing operations at ARA, Aaron is also accountable for researching and implementing new methods and technologies as the environmental testing field evolves. Aaron has extensive hands-on experience using GC/MS, GC/ECD, GC/FID, ion chromatography, ICP, cold vapor AA methodology, as well as various wet chemistry techniques. Aaron is the "Captain" of the lab, and has become known for finding creative solutions to every challenge brought to his attention. The company would not have developed with such success without Aaron's inspirational insight, guidance and "can do" attitude.

In his free time, Aaron can be found running 5K road races with his wife Cathy, camping with the family, snowshoeing, brewing tasty ales and working on home improvement projects.


Danielle Quinn 

Danielle has been working in the  environmental consulting realm  since completing her Master's  Degree in Environmental Law &  Policy at Vermont Law School in  2010. She joined the Indoor Air  Quality Division at Absolute  Resource Associates in October of  2012, performing asbestos  inspections, mold assessments, indoor air quality testing, air clearances, and moisture mapping.

 

In 2014, Danielle took a position as an environmental analyst with the MA Division of Capital Asset and Maintenance (DCAMM), where she gained a vast amount of project management experience. In May of 2016, Danielle was thrilled to rejoin her ARA family in the position of Federal Project Manager, where she now manages all aspects of ARA's many Federal Environmental Projects. Outside of work, Danielle enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking,  and getting outdoors.


Jane Stratton

Jane has been with Absolute Resource Associates since October 2006. Over the years Jane has worn many hats, from greeting customers to logging in water and soil samples, and using her education in small business management to assist in the marketing and administrative needs of ARA. Her familiarity with our clients' needs and her ability to manage many details and projects at once make her an excellent resource for customer service and dependable communication.

 

As Customer Relations Manager, Jane now over-sees the day-to-day operations of sample receiving and customer service as it relates to project planning, sampling, and sample submittal. She is proficient with ARA’s LIMS system, as well as specific requirements related to specialized projects for the Department of Defense, Army Corps of Engineers and other federal and state agencies. Jane also has field experience related to indoor air quality assessments and sampling, and is an excellent resource for information associated with mold, lead and asbestos. In her free time, Jane enjoys spending time with her friends and family, her two cats and her two Great Pyrenees.


Jason Muchmore 

Jason joined Absolute Resource  Associates in August of 2013 as a  member of the Indoor Air Quality  Division. Jason currently resides in  southern Maine and studied Marine  Science and Geographic Information  Systems at the University of Maine at  Machias. Jason is a certified Indoor  Environmentalist (CIE), a Licensed Asbestos Project Monitor, Asbestos  Inspector, and State Licensed Lead Inspector.

Jason started out at ARA performing air monitoring, sample collection, and mold assessments. As a hard worker and quick learner, he was easily  promoted to Supervisor, and then Manager, of ARA’s Indoor Air Quality division. Jason now oversees all field activities related to our client's indoor air quality concerns (mold, lead, asbestos, odors, allergens, etc.). Jason's CV can be found here.  In his spare time, Jason can be found surfing the icy cold waters of the Maine coast. He also enjoys soccer, kayaking, hiking, camping, traveling, and picking on his guitar and banjo.


Jean Gennaro

Jean joined Absolute Resource Associates in early 2010 as the Director of Marketing. Jean studied Communications at Pennsylvania State University and the University of New Hampshire. An award-winning video producer and published writer, Jean has 30 years of experience working in media and marketing. Her broad experience includes news, advertising, television, public relations, social media marketing and corporate marketing. Jean was the architect for ARA's name change and re-branding strategy in 2010, and her creativity and broad experience have been instrumental in helping to create and shape the ARA brand in the marketplace. In her spare time Jean enjoys a busy life in Coastal Maine with her husband and 3 children.


ARA Customer Service Manager Jen GueretteJen Guerette

Jen has a BS in General Biology & Minor in Environmental Conservation from the University of New Hampshire, and has been with ARA since 2001. She started as an analyst in the organics area of the lab, running a GC/MS, where she gained a tremendous amount of experience in understanding lab operations, procedures, & managing the various needs of our lab customers. Presently, Jen is our Quality Assurance Officer, and plays a critical role in ARA's quality system. Her responsibilities include maintaining licenses and accreditations, performing internal audits, calibrating support equipment and providing QC data for our customers. Jen is passionate about maintaining our high standards of quality and keeps that priority at the top of the list in everything we do. What our customers love about Jen is when she says she will get them an answer, they can always count on her to follow through! Outside of work, Jen spends much of her time with family. She loves being a mom and is very proud of her son, Ryan. She enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, hiking and mountain biking.


Jennifer Zaffini Lowe

Jen graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 2004 with a degree in bio-chemistry, and joined the ARA team in May of 2006. Jen began her environmental lab journey with the analysis of diesel range organics by GC-FID and has since covered everything that comes through the lab, from PCB / Pesticides, VOCs, anions, to bacteria, wet chemistry analyses and more. A quick learner, hard worker, and team player, Jen has worn many hats at ARA, from Lab Tech to Lab Analyst, Assistant Lab Manager, Project Manager, and now, Laboratory Manager. In her current role, Jen is responsible for managing the staff, workflow and data integrity of all projects moving through the lab, insuring that each and every lab customer is given the best in customer care and quality data. When she gets a chance to escape the lab, Jen loves running, playing sports and enjoying time with her husband and son Camden.


Alan Naber

Alan graduated with a BS in Industrial Chemistry from Keene State College in NH. His first real "lab" job was at GTEL Environmental Laboratories, where he worked for 9 years, performing metals analysis using graphite furnace, cold vapor AA, and ICP-OES, and eventually becoming the Inorganics Manager. After leaving GTEL, Alan spent the next 18 years at Aquarian Analytical in Canterbury, NH continuing in metals analysis, specializing in ICP-MS, and serving as Laboratory Director for 2 years. Alan was hired at ARA in the summer of 2017, and spends most of his time on what is now his third ICP-MS instrument. In his time off, Alan likes to hike, camp and volunteer with the AMC to maintain hiking trails of the White Mountain National Forest.


Alex Alterisio-Gagnon

Alex has been a part of the ARA team since 2015.  As a freshly graduated alumnus of UNH  with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Alex began his time at ARA as a technician working both in the lab and on the road.  Alex now works full time in the laboratory as a semi-volatiles analyst.  His primary responsibilities involve the operation and maintenance of the gas and ion chromatographs used for petroleum, PCB, pesticide, and anion analysis.  Alex’s quest for learning makes him an ideal employee, as he is willing and able to fill in wherever needed. 


Alison Keith    (Alison with one "L")

Alison received her bachelor's degree in Marine Biology from the University of New England, and started working for Absolute Resource Associates in May, 2006 as an organics extraction technician, extracting semi-volatile solids and waters, including DRO, PAH, ABN, PCB, and Pesticides. Alison has always had a strong interest in environmental science and laboratory work, and is particularly proud of her role in helping to implement the methods using microwave technology here at ARA. These green procedures not only help reduce the environmental impact of the extraction process, but also improve turn-around time. Alison is also responsible for pioneering ARA's in-house mold capabilities, including mold identification in air and surface samples, as well as spearheading our in-house asbestos capabilities. Alison recently joined ARA's IAQ team, where she is now a Certified Mold Inspector (CMI), Asbestos Inspector, Lead Inspector, and Field Analyst. In addition to all of this, Alison is also one of ARA's Site Safety Health Officers (SSHO), managing and maintaining safety protocol on ARA's Federal Projects. When Alison isn't at work, she enjoys hiking and mountain climbing, running road races, reading and spending time with family and friends.


Allison Smith   (Alison with two "LLs")

Allison became a member of the Absolute Resource Associates team in the fall of 2014 as a part-time semi-volatiles extraction technician.  Allison earned her Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science at the University of New Hampshire in 2012.  During and since her time at UNH, Allison has also been employed as a laboratory and office assistant at the New Hampshire Veterinary Diagnostic Lab.  When she is not in either lab setting, Allison can typically be found on the back of her beloved horse, Doxie.


Annah Dube

Annah joined ARA in 2014, and is in charge of Sample Receipt. Annah has her hands (literally!) on every sample we receive at the lab. She also handles all bottle orders, helps to manage our courier schedule, keeps login and lab supplies stocked, and jumps in to help with whatever else may need doing. Annah’s attention to detail, her familiarity with our customers' needs, and her knowledge of various analytical requirements all add tremendous value to the Login Department. Annah has her OSHA 30 hour certification, and is an active member of ARA’s safety committee. She has lived in NH for most of her life and enjoys hiking in the woods, hanging out with her two kitties and enjoying her free time with family and friends.


Ann Plante-Alexander

Ann joined Absolute Resource Associates in August, 2002, and is in charge of all Wet Lab Chemistry for the Laboratory Services Division. Ann is also the Hazardous Waste Coordinator, and is responsible for safe and legal care and disposal of all hazardous waste for the facility.


Cathy DeWees

Cathy holds a B.A. in English with a minor in Elementary Education from the University of New Hampshire. After spending 15 years in the non-profit world, Cathy came to ARA in May 2015 looking to try something completely different!  Cathy's positive energy, welcoming personality and enthusiasm to take on any task make her invaluable in so many areas at ARA. Cathy was recently promoted from Administrative Assistant to Assistant Project Manager at ARA. When not at the lab, Cathy can be found snowshoeing, running, camping and searching for new healthy recipes to cook with her husband.


Chuck Leahy

Chuck became a member of the Absolute Resource Associates team in the fall of 2015 as an analyst. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BS degree in bioscience technology. Chuck returned to the environmental laboratory setting after several years of being a stay-at-home dad to his three busy sons. Chuck has a technical background and previously held laboratory-based positions including working in organic extractions, as an analytical chemist in a volatile organic laboratory, and also has experience working in a virology and waterborne disease laboratory. In early 2018, Chuck was promoted to Assistant Lab Manager. Outside of work, Chuck loves spending time with his family… outside. He enjoys exploring places both near and far with his wife, Alison, their sons, and yellow Labrador retriever.


Donna Valley
Donna graduated from the University of New England in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Science. After taking higher level chemistry labs, Donna quickly realized she wanted to make a career in the laboratory environment. She joined Absolute Resource Associates in October of 2017, primarily helping out in the Wet Chemistry and Extractions Departments. Donna gets a thrill out of seeing real world applications of the subjects she studied in school (especially the ones her Mom and Dad told her she’d never use in life!). In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family and her yellow lab.

 


Joe Amend

If you use our courier service, you know that Joe is one of our friendly couriers. Joe is responsible for the pickup, safe guarding and delivery of environmental samples to our laboratory.  Joe is retired from the State of Connecticut where he was a Systems Designer.  His last project for Connecticut was the development and implementation of the first in the world automated truck inspection station. He also served four years as a Personnel Officer in the USAF. He has a BA from Villanova University and an MBA from the University of Connecticut.


Kaya Cooley

Kaya graduated from Union College in NY in 2018, majoring in Chemistry, with a focus on Environmental and Material Chemistry. At Union, she spent two years as a student researcher developing a protocol for the use of organically modified silicates as an adsorption technique for PFAAs. As the newest Laboratory Technician at ARA, Kaya helps with semi-volatile extractions and metal analysis. In her spare time, Kaya enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She loves taking her dog for walks and hanging out in the garden with her two cats.  She has lived in NH for most of her life, and loves hiking and hanging out by the lake/ocean.


Kevin North

Kevin graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2008 with a BS in Environmental Studies and from Ecotech Institute with an AAS in Renewable Energy Technology in 2014.  He also served in the United States Marine Corps from 2008-2012 as an Aviation Ordnanceman and billeting clerk.  Among his many duties included Environmental Coordinator and holding a hazmat billet.  Kevin joined Absolute Resource Associates in January 2016 to operate the West Point Academy contract.  In his free time, Kevin enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking, golfing and working out.


Lawrence Maciejewski

Larry graduated from Keene State College in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and joined the Absolute Resource Associates team in 2004. He started out in extractions, and soon after moved into volatile organic compound analysis. Larry says that the challenge of managing a timely delivery of results to the end user, from the time we receive a set of samples through the preparation to the evaluation of data, is what has kept things interesting and motivating. Outside of work, Larry enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, such as camping, hiking, puttering in the garden, or just taking in the great views that nature has to offer.


Sarah Burridge

Sarah joined ARA in June of 2018 as a Laboratory Technician. After graduating from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont with a degree in Biology and Anthropology, Sarah moved to the NH seacoast, where she enjoys biking, hiking, playing instruments and learning about the history of the area. She worked at Strawbery Banke Museum and the John Paul Jones House after college, before she came to the lab. She has been practicing martial arts since she was five years old, and is a black belt as well as a Sensei in karate. As a Lab Tech at ARA, Sarah works in extractions and helps out in other parts of the lab when she can.


Sonja Maliski

Sonja graduated from the University of New Hampshire in May of 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Ecology, Evolution and Behavior. Later that summer, she joined the Absolute Resource Associates team part-time to assist with report archiving. Sonja is always willing to jump in where needed, and can often be spotted helping out in reception, login, and the lab. In her spare time, Sonja enjoys watching foreign films and painting landscapes.
