Asbestos: Not an "old" problem
Many believe that asbestos is only found in "old" buildings. Unfortunately, that is not necessarily true. Asbestos containing products are quite common in the international marketplace. Products can be found that contain "Fiber Containing Materials" in local hardware and building supply stores. When you see "Fiber Containing Materials", you may be looking at Asbestos!
Asbestos is a collective name for several naturally occurring minerals. These minerals are mined from the ground, not manufactured by a chemical process as is commonly believed. In the US, the EPA banned most asbestos containing products in 1989. However, that ban was overturned in 1991 by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Since Asbestos is still being used in manufacturing of building materials and found in many buildings, most states currently require an Asbestos Inspection prior to demolition or renovations.
The Asbestos Inspectors, Monitors and Professional Consultants at Absolute Resource Associates provide the following services:
-
Comprehensive Asbestos surveys and inspections of buildings.
-
Identify and collect samples of suspect materials and determine their condition.
-
Samples collected by the Asbestos Inspector are sent to an NVLAP (National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program) accredited laboratory for analysis.
-
We provide a report, complete with findings, conclusions, recommendations, and a complete scope of work for remedial action if the site requires Asbestos abatement.
