Project experience

Mold Remediation and Office Renovation

Naval Facilities (NAVFAC) awarded ARA a project under their IDIQ to remediate mold growth as a result of a steam pipe break in an office area. ARA provided site supervision, and site safety/quality control supervision. The work involved the management of a remediation subcontractor, third party industrial hygiene firm, carpentry subcontractor and an electrical subcontractor. The work involved remediating microbial growth, scraping of loose lead paint chips, demolition, and the installation of new wall board, doors with security badge access, carpet, cove base, ceiling tiles and level 5 finish of all surfaces.

PFAS Analysis- State of NH
ARA was awarded a three year, $2M contract with the State of NH, providing Laboratory Analytical Services to identify and quantify Per–and Polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in environmental samples for NH State Agencies, water suppliers and other eligible participants throughout the state.

Analytical Testing for the Army and the Navy

ARA has performed monthly drinking water sampling and analysis for 5 sites for the US Navy, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safe drinking water for the facilities.  ARA’s DoD ELAP accredited laboratory has also performed analysis for the Army ERDC Vicksburg, MS location. Samples are sent from locations across the US to ARA;s lab for nutrient, solids and chlorophyll testing. The laboratory also is under contract with the Army Corps of Engineers for long term monitoring and reporting for two Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) in Maine. Work includes SEDD and FUDSCHEM reporting, data validation and groundwater reports for the sites. The preparation and approval of sampling and safety plans is also included in this work.

Asbestos, Lead and Mold at Army Facility

ARA provided all personnel and management necessary to test bulk samples and collect and/or test air samples for asbestos, lead-based paint and mold at various locations at a high profile United States Military facility in New York.

Analytical Testing & Quick Turn Around for Construction Site

ARA worked with a Consulting Firm as they were tasked with expediting site work for a new large retail department store. ARA obtained approval from EPA Region 1 for using an alternative (and much more efficient) extraction procedure for TSCA PCB samples. Making the effort to get EPA approval allowed ARA to save the customer considerable money by reducing costs and TAT on this project. ARA’s proactive approach ensured deadlines were met and the store opening could happen on time and significantly under budget.

Hazardous Material Assessments

ARA has performed several hazardous material assessments and reporting as subcontractor for AE contracts and as Prime for USCG. Typical hazardous material assessments include evaluation of building materials for asbestos, PCBs, and lead. ARA’s licensure for portable XRF analyzer allows us to promptly determine the presence of lead.
